No, unfortunately, you cannot do that because this is not a transit, but a simple return journey:
Hong Kong - Guangdong province - Hong Kong
The rule is quite clear and it says that only the immediate points before and after your mainland Chinese destination matter and they have to be in two different countries or eligible territories.
So, suggestion for you... Make your itinerary to look like this:
HKIA - Baiyun GZ - Macau (by ferry from Shekou) - HKIA
As you can see, this is the option that makes you eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in entire Guangdong province.
Please, have in mind that you will have to buy your ferry ticket in advance through TurboJet Ferry company and you will have to print it out. Also, you will have to take exactly that ferry you have bought your ticket for.
