About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit Visa enough for Auckland-Hong Kong-Shanghai-Zurich

Hi everyone
We are not sure if we can visit Shanghai in April due to the Corona virus. We booked Auckland-Shanghai-Zurich. Is it correct that I do not need a visa? So a transit visa is enough? Is it 144 hours by now in Shanghai? Maybe our flight from Auckland to Shanghai will not be directly anymore due to low demand. If we fly Auckland-Hong Kong (Transfer) - Shanghai - Zurich, does that change anything? Am I correct that a transit visa is still enough, also coming from Hong Kong to Shanghai? Thank you so much for a quick answer
Best regards
Daniel

You don't need a transit visa if your passports are from one of the 53 qualifying countries and you stay less than 144 hours (starting at midnight the day after arrival). You can transit without a visa. Either of the routes that you mention will qualify.

Keep in mind that currently NZ will refuse entry to anyone who has visited or transited Mainland China in the 14 days prior to your arrival unless you are a NZ citizen or a permanent resident.

Thank you so much. We are flying from New Zealand to China so we won't have that problem fortunately.
