Arriving to Shenzhen with train from Hong Kong but returning with ferry?

Hi, I am citizen of Finland and travelling in Hong Kong in June 2019.
I am planning to visit SZ (with one overnight stay) coming by train from Hong Kong and applying for the VOA at the train terminal. My question is, that if I arrive with the train from Hong Kong, can I exit with the ferry with the route from Shekou Port to Hong Kong International Airport?

Your advice would be highly appreciated, thank you.

Kind regards, Susa H

Actually, you cannot take a cross-border train from Hong Kong to SZ. You can take a train from Hong Kong to Lo Wu on the border where you will exit and proceed on foot to resolve the formalities. After that, you will cross Luohu on mainland China side and once your SZ VOA is granted you will proceed by metro to the center of SZ. After your stay in SZ, indeed, by far the best option is to take a ferry from Shekou port to Hong Kong airport. This is allowed and even recommended. The mos comfortable way of travel from SZ to Hong Kong airport. By the way, since you will spend an overnight in SZ it is highly advisable to make a booking for your accommodation in advance and to have a confirmation with you in hard copy.
