About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

Stay in HK then Shanghai then Tokyo Japan then HK

Hi, we have a family holiday coming up in August/September.
We arrive from Sydney to HK 20/8/19 until 23/8/19, then high speed train to SH on 23rd. Stay in SH 23/8/19 to 27/8/19 then fly to Tokyo until 31/8/19. Finally back to HK from 1/9/19 until 3/9/19 then fly home to Sydney.
Does the 144 hour Visa Free option apply for our trip?
Many thanks for your time

Hi, you can be eligible for the 144-hour free transit as long as you change the transportation to SH. The train from HK is to Hongqiao Railway Station and it is not the eligible port, so it is better for you to take a flight to SH or apply for a visa in advance.

Alternatively, you would be eligible also by taking a conventional (slow) train that departs from Hung Hom railway station in Hong Kong directly to SH. It runs every other day.
