About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am flying into Beijing, staying in Beijing for three days and then join a cruise ship (in Beijing)

What are the visa requirements?

In case that your cruise, departing from Tianjin, has the first port call in some other country different than mainland China (South Korea, Japan...), then your itinerary is visa free, i.e. you are eligible for 144 hours visa free transit in Beijing. On the contrary, in case that you have as the first port call some mainland China city like Qingdao, Shanghai or any other, then you have to obtain Chinese visa in advance.
