About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

From canada to china to philippines

Hi, i am holding a philippine passport, i am here in canada right now.. i have a flight on may 9,2019 from toronto canada and having exactly 24hour layover in shanghai pudong airport before going to philippines.. my arrival in shanghai is May10 at 6:55pm and have a departure the next day May11 at 6:55pm going to philippines... Question is where can i get transit visa? Am i allowed to go out the airport ang have sleep in hotel? Can i get transit visa in shanghai airport after arrival? Thank you so much and i am hoping for your kind answer..

Exactly 24 hours, really, rare occurrence :). You don't need any kind of visa because you will stay in China for exactly 24 hours which is also a maximum you can do. It is important that the times you have mentioned are official scheduled arrival and departure, published on your flight itinerary. So, bring with you your flight tickets and also accommodation booking in printed form and you will almost certainly be allowed to exit the airport and to enjoy normal and human overnight in Shanghai. In order to obtain the right to exit the airport, you will apply for 24 hours free entry permit at the relevant counter.
