In reality, the arrivals are allowed only by air and departures practically by any kind of transport even overland and by sea to Macau and Hong Kong. Also, I assume that a demand for flight tickets from Hong Kong to Guangzhou will increase because it will allow the visitors to Hong Kong to fly to Guangzhou and return to Macau. Maybe even the ultra short flights from Hong Kong to Shenzhen will suddenly appear and the one from Macau for Guangzhou/Shenzhen almost definitely :)

This is really something... Anyway, one detail is really curious because it appears that high speed trains will not be allowed as legitimate option for travel between Guangdong province and Hong Kong. In reality, only the slow through trains from Guangzhou East (Tianhe) will be eligible for transfers to Hong Kong. Interesting. Also, it seems that it will not be allowed to use any train between Shenzhen to Hong Kong.

Indeed complicated... For example, it is weird, as far as I have properly understood, it will not be eligible to use high speed train from any place within Guangdong province to Hong Kong West Kowloon station! Maybe, but just maybe, the intention is to bring some passengers to Guangzhou–Kowloon through train that is obviously eligible because all the train stations on this railway route are. Also, I don't see a real reason for so many eligible road and pedestrian border crossings because it is almost impossible for usual travelers to buy bus tickets online in advance for cross-border buses, assuming that for 144 hours visa free travel one needs a ticket ready to show in some foreign country. Also, I'm more than certain that so many of those willing to use 144 hours visa free transit, especially those that will plan to travel to Hong Kong or Macau after their stay in Guangdong province will be denied taking a flight because the officials in different countries simply will not be willing to investigate eligible ports and train, bus, or boat tickets for the sake of this rule. So far everything was relatively painless, but with this Guangdong 144 hours rule, the circus show will begin.
