Amsterdam-Hangzhou-Taipei

I'm travelling from Amsterdam to Taipei and would like to visit friends in Hangzhou on the way. The flights which I would be using are Amsterdam-Hong Kong-Hangzhou-Taipei with a 4-day stopover in Hangzhou. Would this route be eligible? Also, would this mean informing the carrier when boarding in London or in Hong Kong? I could pay a little extra to get a direct flight from Amsterdam to Hangzhou, would this make the process easier?

Of course the route is eligible. It makes no difference where you start. Be prepared to inform the carrier in Hong Kong (they will be very familiar with the process), and possibly in AMS or LON if they ask.
