144-hour visa free in beijing

Question

My wife and I are taking a cruise that departs out of Hong Kong on the afternoon of 9/11.  We arrive in BJ at 5:10pm on 9/11 so the clock would start at 12:01AM on the 7th.  We have hotel reservations for our stay in Beijing.  We depart to Hong Kong on the morning of 9/11 and arrive around noon and get on the ship that afternoon.  Do we qualify for the 144-hour Visa free visit?I thank you in advance for your assistance.

Yes, the time will be calculated from 12:01am on the 7th. Then you qualify for the 144 hour visa free transit.
