New passport, valid residence permit in old one

I recently renewed my passport due to lack of pages and my current valid residence permit is in the old cancelled passport. The offices just told me to carry both passports until the permit expires, but someone told me that the immigration office require you to transfer the residence permit to the new passport. Is there any thing I need to do or is that person mistaken?

Hi, I don't think you have to transfer the residence permit to the new passport. But you are advised to contact the immigration office to confirm that.
