About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

does overstaying by 2 days on a 90 day visa matter?

My son is volunteering with a study group from Beijing University and has miscounted his days.

It's hard to say it for sure. But usually, if you overstay in China, you are supposed to accept the fine of 500 RMB per day.
