About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Does the 144-hour visa-free transit policy apply to me?

Hi,
I fly from the USA into Hong Kong, stay 3 nights there....then fly to Shanghai.....stay 3 nights there.....then fly back to Hong Kong....stay 5 nights there.....then fly back to the USA.....does that qualify for the 144-hour twov?

Visa-free transit only applies if you are in transit to a third country. You fly Hong Kong-China-Hong Kong which is a visit to China, and not a transit. So you either need a visa or different flights.
