Flying via a transit flight

I am flying Singapore - HKG (transit only) - Shanghai, staying for less than 72 hours in Shanghai, and then flying Shanghai - Singapore (direct flight). Do i still qualify for the 72 hour Visa Free Transit? Even though i am not spending any time in HKG?
I am holding a UK passport

There's no 72h twov but a 144h twov and you're fine for it.
