About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hour visa question

Fly US to Beijing, plan on staying in Beijing for 3 days then fly to Hong Kong for 4 days, flying back to Beijing airport to catch plane to US. Does this work for the 144 hour twov or should I go ahead and get the 10 year entry permit? Thanks!
