About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

London-Shenzhen-Jakarta and return - visa free transit?

I am a UK citizen and will fly with Shenzhen Airlines in May 2019.
I have return flights from London-Jakarta with stops of about 6 hours in each direction in Shenzhen Airport. Various websites are saying different things. This website seems clearest, but would like to clarify:

1. No visa is needed beforehand - can obtain 24 hour transit at Shenzhen airport?
2. Do I need to contact the airline beforehand or at Heathrow Airport in London to clarify that I need a transit visa upon arrival in Shenzhen?
3. Is there a fee for the 24 hours twov? (so I know how much RMB to take)
4. Is there an official website that states these facts or has anyone done a similar trip recently?
5. Thanks for your help in advance!

1. It appears that 24-hour transit has been available in Shenzhen since last November or so and you will have to go through immigration to get your passport stamped as well as pick up your luggage for customs.
2. It is not a visa, so no.
3. It is not a visa, so it's free.
4. TripAdvisor has some anecdotal reports but no recent data points, otherwise you must call the immigration office at the airport. However, this policy is listed in the Timatic database, which is used by all airlines, and there would be a fine if they don't carry passengers with correct documents. So you can assume it's reliable enough for the airlines to follow.
