12 Month Multiple Entry Visa.

Good day,

I will be teaching English in China this year and my boyfriend wants to visit me. He works two months and is off for a month and wants to visit during his months off. He works overseas so can't go to the embassy every time he wants to visit. Can he apply for a 12 month multiple tourist l? What are the requirements or is there another type of visa?
