About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Question over Free visa transit.

My Mom and I are American Citizens. We are going to take a Cruise Ship that departs from Singapore on May 25th of this year. The previous Port before arriving at (Baoshan) Shanghai will be Hong Kong where we stay for day 6 and day 7 of the Cruise. We will be touching ground on only two Chinese ports. Hong Kong and Shanghai. We finally arrive at the Port of Baoshan in Shanghai at 6:00 AM on June 3rd of this year. We will be leaving Shanghai through one of its Airports, Pudong International airport the same day at 8:00 PM. We will be in Shanghai for only 14 hours. Which free transit do we qualify for? The 24, 72, or 144 hour free transit.

HK is not considered china for visa purposes so your entry to china will be June 3rd. Since you will be in Shanghai less than 24 hours you will be given the 24 hour transit.
