About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Australia-Guangzhou return

I will be visiting a friend in Guangzhou. I will fly direct Melbourne to Guangzhou, remain for three days then return to Australia, so no third country. Can i avail myself of the 72 hr twov on arrival in Guangzhou?

You cannot avail of the 72h twov in Guangzhou. You need a visa beforehand.

For clarity, the route must be Country A to Country B to Country C. So your route is Country A to Country B back to Country A which is not valid unfortunately. But you can go visit Hong Kong! It's defined as a different country than China!
