About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

Hong Kong visits either side of transit at Shanghai

I am travelling with family to SH to join a Celebrity cruise leaving SH and cruising to Singapore.
The flight to SH includes a stopover in Hong Kong and our cruise includes a stop at Hong Kong. Since Singapore is our actual cruise destination, would we qualify for the 144 hour visa waiver? My wife and daughter travelling with me have Canadian passports, while I hold a UK passport. We are getting mixed messages as to whether we qualify, can anybody give us a definitive answer?
Thank you,
Rob

Singapore is irrelevant. Only the stops immediately before and after Shanghai are relevant. If your route is Hong Kong-Shanghai-Hong Kong you need a visa because it's not a transit.
