About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visiting China from Canada using stop overs

Hello, I am planning to visit Shanghai. Since that it says the first non-stop flight counts as the third country, can the following route be eligible for a 144-hour transit?

Depart:
Toronto - Shanghai
Nonstop operated by Air Canada

Return:
Shanghai - Tokyo - Toronto
PVG-HND by ANA and HND-YYZ by Air Canada

Final destination is Toronto but with stopover in Tokyo operated by ANA codeshare with Air Canada.
This whole route will be under the same booking from Air Canada

Thank you!
