About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Stay and Cruise Scenario - Shanghai

I am Flying into Shanghai on 23rd April 2019 direct from London. I will be staying 3 nights in a pre booked Hotel before joining a Cruise from Shanghai to Japan. We return to Shanghai on 4th May transferring directly to Shanghai Airport for a direct flight to London.
Is this itinery suitable for the 144 hour Free Transit Pass or will I have to renew at the Ferry Terminal?

When you get on the boat you will be stamped out of china. Once you return from Japan you will be issued a new entry permit to catch the flight out is China. It's two separate 24/144 hour transits.
