About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I have a 10 hour layover between Bangkok and NY in Shanghai. How do I get free visa to leave airpor

airport? Also, will China Eastern check my luggage to NY/

If you have hotel reservation, you can try to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at Shanghai airport. Afterwards, you can leave the airport to explore the city.
