About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

"Confirmed seat".

It says in the instructions that I need a confirmed ticket for the onward journey, which I have. However since I cannot check in online to my onward journey to the third country, I have no proof of a seat reservation. How to handle this?

When they say seat they mean you paid money for ticket and are not flying standby. Print out copy of itinerary showing the ticket number. That is what you need to show the connecting flight. You do not need to have seat selection in advance just the ticket number is sufficient.
