About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

question about 144-hour Visa.

we are coming from US by plane and staying for 3 full days in Shanghai in hotel then going to RCCL cruise ship to Japan and after cruise going directly back to US by plane... DO we need regular entry permit or 144-hour twov will be enough? Thank you
