Is there a non-stop flight from Shanghai to Dusseldorf? If, for example, you are on the Air China flight via Beijing you will not qualify for 144hr twov. You have to fly from Shanghai to a third country, not China and not the Netherlands (assuming your outbound is on the KLM non-stop flight).
