About:China Transit Visa

72 hour Free transit. Hi I am an Australian citizen travelling to Spain via China.

I would like to know if I am allowed to leave the airport to during my 24 hour layover ?

You can use the free transit in both ways. No need to worry.

Will I be able to do some of those day tours leaving the airport? (I have approximately 24hours in China on the way to Spain and back to Australia

You can leave Beijing airport. If you have hotel reservation, you could leave Shanghai airport as well.
