Do we need adapters?

Someone told me that for all of mainland China that electricity is at 220 volts and 50 cycle and that we will need adapters in order to charge camera and laptop batteries. Please let me know is it true?

Yes, in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau, the common power voltage is 220 Volt 50 Hz AC. As the shapes of sockets and voltage vary in different countries, a portable plug adapter is usually necessary. It can be purchased from electronics stores in your country or in China upon your arrival.
