About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

flying Dubai to Boston USA via Shenzhen and Beijing

Hi, Im a little confused. The requirements for 144hour free transit states non stop flights into mainland china but an example used is: UK – Guangzhou – Shanghai - Hong Kong (two china stops)
Because my flight has a stopover (2hrs) in Shenzhen before my arrival in Beijing, can I use any of the 24, 72 or 144hr free transit to explore Beijing or will i need a tourist L?

On the way to the US, I will have an overnight in Beijing. On the way back from the US I would like to spend 4 nights in Beijing.

You will need a tourist visa. Pay attention to the little "x" before the example which means that the route is not qualified for 144-hour transit.

If your transit time doesn't exceed 24h from your scheduled arrival time in Shenzhen to your departure scheduled time in Beijing, you're fine for the 24h transit and you don't need a visa on your trip to the USA.

But if you wanna stay 4 days in Beijing on your way to Australia you have to apply for a tourist visa L when you have 2 stops in mainland China.
