About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

flying USA- Korea- Beijing, touring mainland for 8 days, then Shanghai- USA. Do I qualify?

Yes, your itinerary is definitely eligible for 240 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. It is important that on your return flight from Shanghai to US you do not have a stop/landing in South Korea of any kind. Have a nice visit to China.
