About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US to Shanghai via Bejing

Need to get to Shanghai for a week of business. Can I fly to Hong Kong via Bejing? Transit Bejing without a visa? Once in Hong Kong I will get an M before flying to Shanghai.

If you're getting a visa anyway you should get a 10-year visa while in the US, but US-PEK-HK is also fine without a visa.
