About:Hong Kong Visa Policy

Flying NYC-PVG-HKG-MNL & will have 23hr layover in HKG, can I go to Shenzhen on layover?

I am a US citizen and flying from NYC to Shanghai with a short layover, then a long layover (23 hours) in Hong Kong on my way to Manila. I would like to leave the airport in Hong Kong and take the subway to Shenzhen. I would be there for less than 24 hours. Can I go to Shenzhen on the layover?

There is no free transit in Shenzhen. But it's possible for you to get Shenzhen VOA at the Luohu border between HK and Shenzhen. You can try to apply for it.

Cost of the visa on arrival is same price as a 10 year advance visa for US passport. Either get the 10 year multi entry before your trip or just stay in Hong Kong. You will probably spend more time trying to get into Shenzhen than you will actually be in Shenzhen.
