Layover/Transit Visa requirements

I have an overnight layover in Hangzhou travelling through to Vietnam and then 8 hours on return via Beijing. Hoping to be able to leave the airport on both occasions. Due to the short period, and ongoing flights booked, does this qualify for any free transit exemptions?

You qualify for the free transit exemption in mainland China twice in both trips. No visa will be needed. Nice trip.
