About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying from USA to Bejing to Tokyo

I am flying from the US to Canada (layover) to Beijing. I arrive on a Friday to Beijing and fly to Tokoyo that Tuesday morning. I would be able to apply for the 144-hour free transit correct?
