10 hours stopover at beijing capital airport to pass in december

Question

waiting for connecting flights between London & Sydney. Travelling with my 4 year old son! Stay put in terminal 3? Would love to see a bit of Beijing if possible but wondered if it's worth the effort considering how little time we have. Also it might be super cold and dark? We arrive at 4pm. Any thoughts are welcome - thanks!

To be honest, if you only stay for 10 hours in the airport, there is no much time to travel around. After your arrive and get out of the airport, it may take about half an hour. And you need to reserve about 2 hours at least for the boarding procedures of the next flight. The bus ride on two-ways travel may take about 2 hours a least. So you only have within 6 hours for sightseeing. The nearby scenic spots include the Dashanzi Art District, Chaoyang Park, South Luogu Lane, Bird's Nest or the Water Cube. You can choose one or two spots to see.
