About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Layover in Taipei

I am going from the states to Beijing, then to Manila. Then I am heading from Manila to Beijing and then back to the states. My flight from Manila to Beijing has a layover in Taipei. Do I need a visa, or since Taipei isn't mainland China, will I be okay?
