About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Indian Passport with US Visa

Hi. I am planning a trip to India from US visa to Shanghai. My flight has a layover of 20 hours. I want to go out to the city and look around. Am I eligible for the 72-hour free transit?

As your flight has a layover of 20 hours, you can apply for the 24h twov in Shanghai. If you mean leaving the airport, then it is up to the immigration officer and what "policy" they have in store that day. Some reported that bringing a hotel reservation will help. You can have a try.

24-hour transit without visa. Indians are not eligible for 72/144-hour transit regardless of whether you have an H1B or a Green Card.
