About:Transfer in T3 of Beijing Capital Airport

My family of 4 are planning on taking a China Airways 08:55 flight from Shanghai

arriving in Beijing (Terminal 3, Capital International airport) at 11:15. We have a 14:30 China Airways international flight from the same Terminal 3 to London. The domestic and international flights are on two separate bookings so we need to collect our luggage from the domestic flight, check in, customs, immigration, quarantine etc. The advice says 120 minutes but probably assumes transit / transfer without collecting luggage etc. Do we have enough time.

Well, don't worry. The 120 minutes transfer time include the colleting luggage and recheck in. Thus you are only advised to finish those transfer procedures as soon as possible. Generally speaking, you can catch the next flight. Good luck!
