About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Cruise ship travel - visa inquiry

Hello - thanks for the great website. We will be traveling by cruise ship our last port before Dalian is Japan. We are in Dalian for 8 hours then we cruise to Beijing for 48 hours and then to Shanghai - where we will leave the cruise and spend 72 hours before flying back to the USA - do we need tourist visas for our trip? Or will the 72/144 free visa work?

Thanks for your help.

You need tourist visas. Multiple stops in China limits you to 24 hours transit without visa.
