Philippines passport holder 24hr exact in pudong result of change flight schedule

My parents will have to stay 24hrs in pudong due to airline flight schedule. Thier itenerary is Toronto to shanghai then 24 hrs exact layover before they board to manila. They are philippine passport holder, I was told the accomodation will be provided by the airline , now just to find out if they need visa to get out of the airport to hotel? and what visa? can they use 24hr twov?
