About:China Student Visa

Can I apply for a X2 from within China whilst holding a tourist visa?

I will be going to Shanghai on a tourist L in September and would like to apply for a student X to take some Chinese courses. Would I have to leave the country to apply for the student X once I get accepted into an institution, or would it be possible to apply from within the country? In either case, where could I go to apply for the visa?
Thanks a lot!

It's possible to change the tourist L type into student X type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China. If it can succeed, you don’t need to go back to your home country for that. Just give it a try!
