flying from usa with layover in hong kong cruising from shanghai, is 144 hour transit

Hello, flying from the USA and have a layover in Hong Kong for 2 hours before arriving in Shanghai, stay in SH for 3 nights, then leave on cruise 8 nights for Japan that has no other Chinese ports and then depart Shanghai the same day the cruise returns to Shanghai, from there I fly direct to Vietnam, will a 144 free transit be ok?
