About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

12 hr Layover at Shanghai

Hi,

I am an Indian resident who is working in Canada. I have a layover of 12 hours in Shanghai while returning to Canada and I would love to take a tour of the city. Is it possible to get the 24 hr visa free transit? Also, do I need to apply for it beforehand, or do I get it at the Shanghai airport.

Moneek, if your travel route would be Canada-SH- Canada, you won't qualify for 24 hr TWOV. But if you travel like India-SH- Canada, you can apply for it then at the Shanghai airport. I cannot guarantee that whether you can leave the airport to take a tour of the city. You can have a try.
