About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying from Hong Kong into Beijing for 96 hours ( irish passport)

I live in Australia but have an irish passport.
I will fly into Hong Kong for 5 days. Then I fly from Hong Kong to Beijing for 96 hours. Then fly out from Beijing to Australia. Do I need a visa or am I ok as I will be in Beijing less than 144 hours?

It’s ok, but only if your Beijing to Australia flight does not stop in Hong Kong, and you have no other stops in China.
