Indian passport, valid US work visa. Travel from/to US-India via China.

Traveling from US to India via China. I hold an Indian passport with valid US entry permit. Do I have the transit without entry permit? What if I want to stay in mainland china for a day?

Shanghai. The layover is just around 4 hours, would i need a visa or i have the facility of transit without entry permit?

You can enjoy 24 hr direct transit in Shanghai. No visa is needed. But it's unsure whether you can leave the airport to tour the city. You can have a try.
