About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

I will be travelling in June from Hanoi (Vietnam) to Beijing , stay 5 days in Beijing

And then go back by flight from BJ to Ho CHi Ming (Vietnam)

Does the 144 hours visa works ?

You need a visa in advance or different flights. Vietnam-China-Vietnam doesn't qualify for transit without visa.
