About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Does this qualify for the 72 hour visa policy?

I am a US passport holder. Flying from Tokyo to Beijing. I will arrive in Beijing at 4pm on Friday, and Leave Beijing back to Tokyo on Monday at 8am. I will be staying at a friend's apartment.

Tokyo-Beijing-Tokyo is not a transit, so you cannot enjoy the free transit policy in Beijing. You need to apply for a visa beforehand.
