About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Transiting through Shanghai including other conections

I will fly in August with a round trip ticket from LAX changing planes at NRT to arrive in HK and then leave PVG changing planes in NRT and landing back in LAX. I will take a separate airline from HK to HND, and then a different airline from Japan to Shanghai and leaving PVG the next morning returning to LAX on my round trip tix again but it has to stop in JAPAN. Is it the final destination that determines whether I can do a visa-free transit? My round trip goes from LAX-Hong Kong Shanghai-LAX. Since my round trip includes 3 different countries am I eligible to go to Disneyland for the day, sleep in China and return to the USA the next day?

Your post is almost impossible to follow. Only the flights immediately before and immediately after China are relevant. If you fly Country A-China-Country B (with A and B being different) then you don't need a visa. But if you fly Japan-China-Japan then you need a visa. All other flights are irrelevant.

Hong Kong to Shanghai to Japan is fine for the visa-free transit policy. Nice trip.
