About:144-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

I am traveling from Hanoi and then to Bangkok and then to Shanghai.

And then from SH back to BKK and to Hanoi, does that qualify me for the 144 transit w/o visa?

If you fly Bangkok-Shanghai-Bangkok then that is not a transit, so it does not qualify for transit without visa.

So if I did Hanoi --> Shanghai and then Shanghai --> HK --> Hanoi, does this work?

Thanks!

I’m afraid you won’t be allowed to fly SH - HK -Hanoi, because there is no free visa in HK for travelers who have US passports.

USA nationals don’t need a visa to visit Hong Kong. Hanoi-Shanghai-Hong Kong-Hanoi is fine for 144 hours twov in Shanghai.
