Transit Visa Question. Thanks!

Hi, I am flying from MSP to Shanghai on July 3rd. And then Bangkok to MSP on July 15th.

Using the 144 hour free transit...
Can I go: MSP-->Shanghai-->Hong Kong-->Bangkok-->MSP?
Or do I have to skip the Hong Kong leg and go straight to Bangkok?

Hong Kong counts as an international destination for Chinese immigration purposes, and therefore your itinerary is fine for transit without visa.
