I was asked by a Chinese collegue to bring shoes they purchased in the US on a recent visit but forgot to take back. Is it OK for me to take and deliver to them.

Generally speaking, it will be ok for you to take them. But you shouldn't bring too much. Just put them in the checked luggage.
